Shopping to Slim Your Waist and Wallet- June 30

This week's Shopping to Slim Your Waist and Wallet focuses on a common villain to eating healthy; dessert. Usually targeted for it's propensity to ruin your diet despite your best intentions, it is important to remember that a balanced diet includes healthy dessert choices in the proper portion sizes.

The recipe this week is a Peach and Blueberry Crisp- a quick and easy baked good that won't leave you feeling guilty!

Peach and Blueberry Crisp (Makes 6 servings)
2 cups sliced peaches (2 lbs for $1.00)
1 cup blueberries (two 1 pint packages for $3.00)
1/4 cup orange juice
Crisp Topping
1 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup COLD butter (or margarine) sliced into small pieces
1 tsp ground cinnamon

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Toss fruit with juice, place in 8" square baking dish.
2. Mix oats, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon until crumbly. Sprinkle mixture on top of fruit in baking dish. 
3. Bake for 30 minutes, or until topping is gold brown and crisp.
4. Enjoy!
