This Week's Hidden Healthy Hit: Chia Bread

Chia Bread

As I was browsing the bakery section during my Sunday grocery shopping ritual, a bright and colorful label caught my eye that read: “Chia Bread”. I had never noticed this item in my previous store visits and immediately became interested. Turns out, Chia Bread has a lot of offer in terms of nutrition! Here’s the low down on what Chia Bread can offer you:

Chia bread is made with Chia seeds, which are a great source of

  • Omega 3 Alpha- Linolenic Acid, which can help decrease risk of heart disease
  • Protein and fiber, helping to keep you feeling fuller for longer
  • Antioxidants, for protection against oxidative cellular damage
  • A variety of vitamins & minerals such as thiamine, folate, magnesium and iron

Who knew one little seed could pack so much nutrition? Pick up a loaf of Chia Bread this week at Market Street, on sale for $3.49!
