Tuesday's Trade Up: Oatmeal

Oatmeal makes for a great quick and easy breakfast that will keep you full all morning.  However, not all oatmeals are created equal in terms of nutrition.  Here's a great trade up for your morning staple that will keep you satisfied and fuller throughout the morning:

The one downside of choosing plain, unsweetened oats over the instant, sugar-loaded kind is that it lacks flavor.  However, fear not, because there are numerous ways in which you can add sweetness and pizazz to your morning bowl of oatmeal. Here's a few healthy ideas:
  • Toss in some fresh or frozen fruit
  • Add cinnamon for extra flavor
  • Sweeten your oatmeal with 1-2 teaspoons of brown sugar or honey
  • Add nuts or peanut butter to your oatmeal for extra protein
Better nutrition and cheaper price; talk about a win-win!
