Saving Pennies and Pounds: Thanksgiving Preparation

Thanksgiving is only two weeks away!! My parents and grandparents are coming and this year I've decided that I need to make everything from scratch. Seasoned Thanksgiving cooks, I hear you snickering at my lofty dream. But, I've been bitten by the cooking bug and this is myTour de France.
Last week I set out to find all my recipes (and of course, how I'd make them healthier). I've picked most of my menu, purchased a few table decorations and sat at the feet of wise cooking sages to bribe them for their best recipes.
This week I've decided I'd start buying some of the ingredients so I can split up the cost over a few weeks, as well as take advantage of the great sales at Market Street each week.

Here's a few items on sale this week that won't go bad before the big day!
Fresh Cranberries (2 bags for $3) OR Canned Cranberry Sauce ($0.99/can)
Swanson Chicken Broth (2 for $1) - you may also like the reduced sodium chicken broth
Early California Canned Olives (4 for $5)
Oroweat Stuffing Mix (2 for $4) if you are making your own stuffing, wait till the week of Thanksgiving to buy your bread
Canned pumpkin (Libby's $1.29/can OR Farmers Market Pumpkin Puree $1.99/can OR Farmer's Market Pumpkin Pie Mix $2.29)
Marshmallows ($0.99) so maybe not the most nutritious, but I have to have these on my sweet potatoes!
Ellis Pecans (2 for $6)
Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk ($1.79/can)
Pet Evaporated Milk ($0.99/can)
Handi Foil Traditional Foil Pans (Buy One Get One Free select pans)
Green Giant Canned Vegetables ($0.59/can) if you are buying fresh, wait till the week of Thanksgiving

Stay tuned for my lofty Thanksgiving preparation. I'll share my recipes, how to improve the nutrition of the recipes and where to save some money on your Thanksgiving costs. Tomorrow... I share my bread machine test runs. Eek!!
