Tuesday Trade Up: Almonds

Almonds are loved my almost everyone. Tim Allen, handyman and leading actor of the hit television sitcom, Home Improvement, confessed to Oprah Winfrey that his favorite thing to snack on is hickory smoked almonds--Oprah Winfrey Show, "Favorite Things," 1997. Cinnamon-glazed almonds were President Clinton's snack of choice at both the 1993 and the 1997 inaugurations.

Almonds provide that great satisfying crunch that can keep you going with the afternoon hits. The hardest thing about eating almonds is keeping portions under control. You can actually have 23 almonds as one serving. As part of our Tuesday Trade Up, we look at two varieties of almonds.

  1. Nice tip and information, but I still can't see the difference except potassium...

  2. TGW Estate Agents! Thanks for leaving a comment. Great catch on the potassium. The other nutrient that drives the score down is the sodium (120 mg vs 0 mg).
It is always so surprising to see how much sodium affects a score. Have a great day!
