Tuesday Trade Up: Grape Juice


This week our Tuesday Trade Up is grape juice. Take a look at the diferrence between two different kinds of the same brand of grape juice. Welch's 100% Grape Juice receives a NuVal score of 25 while Welch's Concord Grape Juice Cocktail only receives a NuVal score of 4.

Welch's 100% Grape Juice

Ingredients: Filtered water, concord grape juice, corn syrup, grape juice concentrate, citric acid (for tartness), ascorbic acid (vitamin C). No artificial flavors or artificial colors added.

When you are looking at how much sugar a product has, take a look at the ingredients to see if the sugars are coming from fruit/fruit juice or added sugars. This is one of the very reasons the cocktail gets a lower score - the ingredients.

Love juice but don't need all the extra calories? Try mixing 1 part favorite juice with 2 parts seltzer water - refreshment with 1/3 the calories!
