Coffee has a history of having a bad rap, but research shows us there may be some benefits to your cup of joe!

Protection from Parkinson's Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and liver cancer are just a few that top the list. The protection comes from the antioxidants and acids found in coffee. Polyphenols or flavonoids, the type of antioxidants found in coffee, have been proven to moderately help brain function. Other compounds such as chlorogenic acid have also been found beneficial by helping to discourage the growth of harmful bacteria.

The advice of "Everything in Moderation" still stands true, even with coffee. More than 6 cups a day can cause anxiety, restlessness, and even fluctuations in blood pressure. Another tip to keep in mind is to avoid high fat creamers and the addition of sugar.

Cold or hot, black coffee has some health potential! So for all of you out there who love their cup of joe, drink on in the name of good health!
