Trade Up Tuesday: Couscous

Sure, you already know the answer to today's Trade Up between Rice Select Original Pearl Couscous and the Whole Wheat Couscous. You are probably asking why we would even make the comparison. Everyone knows whole wheat is better for you, right? Well, today we wanted to illustrate why whole wheat products provide better nutrition by showing you the whole picture and using the NuVal scores.

We've used this image before on our blog but take a closer look:

When we eat foods that have been processed and refined, we are removing vitamins, healthy fats, fiber, and minerals. When you eat whole wheat products you are getting more nutrition as nature intended and usually for the same or less calories.

So let's take a look at the nutrition of the two couscouses (hmmm...how do you make cous-cous plural?).

Kudos to the Whole Wheat couscous. Did you see all that fiber, protein and iron? Vegetarians, take note!

So sure, the whole wheat vs original was a no-brainer but did you know the two other reasons why we love Rice Select? They are a verified non-GMO manufacturer and use the logo with pride. And speaking of pride, they are a Go Texan company. Rice select is packaged a little ways south of here in Alvin, Texas, home of the legend, Nolan Ryan.
