Trade Up Tuesday: Hot Chocolate

So who thinks our Texas weather is a little bipolar? I (Alicia) guess I forget each year how crazy it can be but for some reason this year seems extra squirrly. I was in San Antonio for our yearly Dallas snow and so I totally feel jipped. I keep praying for one more snow day but here we are March 12 and I think my chances are slim. That doesn't mean I don't still try to recreate a wintery moment. I don't have to try too hard. I know some of you are like me and are naturally cold natured (or your husband thinks you live in the Sahara desert and keeps the air on 60 - brrrr).

On those chilly nights (real or fabricated) I love having some hot chocolate.  Now, I realize hot chocolate will never get a perfect 100 on the NuVal system but when I do want hot chocolate I want to know I'm getting a better product. Take a look at this week's Trade Up. Ghiradelli wins hands down.

If you compare the nutrition between the two be sure to double the nutrition for the Nestle. Ghiradelli has a serving size of 39g and Nestle has 20g. So to be fair and compare apples to apples, you'll need to compare the same weight and double the Nestle facts. This means Nestle ends up with more calories, more fat, more saturated fat, more sodium, less sugar (b/c they add in splenda) and less protein. Isn't NuVal great? You could have spent five minutes comparing and converting the nutrition label but NuVal makes it easy. One simple score, right on the price tag.

PS Ghirardelli has a pretty clean/simple ingredient list too.
