Trade Up Tuesday: Hot Dog Franks

 

College football is here and with it comes TAILGATING and tailgating means grilling! 
Hot dogs are always part of tailgate, but not all hot dogs are created equal. IF you are going to have a hot dog be sure to read ahead to which one may be your best option.

For todays Trade Up Tuesday we have:
Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks  (NuVal 23)
Nutrition Facts: Serving Size: 1 Frank, Serving per container: 7, Calories: 40, Calories from fat: 10, Total fat: 1g, Sodium: 520mg, Total carbohydrate: 3g, Cholesterol: 10mg, Protein: 6g, Potassium: 4%
Ingredients: Beef, Water, Modified Food Starch, Sodium Lactate, Salt, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Flavorings, Paprika, Potassium Chloride, Potassium Phosphate, Sodium Diacetate, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrate.

Bar S Frank – Chicken, Pork & Beef (NuVal 8)
Nutrition Facts: Serving Size: 1 Link, Serving per container: 8, Calories: 120, Calories from fat: 90, Total fat: 10g, Saturated fat: 3g, Cholesterol: 35mg Sodium: 380mg, Total carbohydrate: 4g, Sugars: 2g, Protein: 3g, Calcium: 4%, Iron: 2%
Ingredients: mechanically separated chicken, water, pork, dextrose, modified cornstarch, salt, 2% or less of: beef, corn syrup, flavorings, sodium phosphate, potassium lactate, potassium acetate, sodium diacetate, sodium erythorbate, oleoresin of paprika, sodium nitrate, smoke flavoring.

As you can tell, Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks is significantly better than Bar S Frank with less calories, fat, cholesterol, and sugar.
