Dietitian’s Top (Gluten-Free) Pick: Apple Pie Larabar

This week’s Dietitian’s Top Pick is the Apple Pie Larabar.  This convenient snack bar is not only tasty (really does taste like an apple pie!) but is gluten-free, contains half a cup of fruit, has 4 grams of fiber and is under 200 calories.

My favorite thing about Larabars is their ingredients.  Nothing fake or difficult to pronounce, just wholesome real foods.  They use non-GMO, organic, gluten-free ingredients and you can even recycle the wrapper by mailing them to: Larabar, Attn: TerraCycle, P.O. Box 18932, Denver, CO, 80218.

The Apple Pie Larabar earned a NuVal score of 53.  Several breakfast or granola bars contain gluten from wheat, so this gluten-free alternative is a great choice for those with Celiac disease.
