Double Trade Up Tuesday: Green Beans

What would a Thanksgiving season be without a talking about green beans?  Many people have the well- known green bean casserole with their Thanksgiving meal.  Sodium is large part of that dish.  One way to help decrease the sodium is by trading up to the can of green beans that has no salt added.  Just by removing the added salt, the NuVal score goes up from 60 to 100!  Take a look:

Don’t forget the frozen green beans!  These can also be a good choice and a great trade-up from the regular canned green beans.  The nice thing about frozen green beans is that you easily adjust the servings depending on how many people you are feeding. If you only need enough for one or two people, you can open a bag, take out the amount you want, and stick the rest back in the freezer.  Or, you can use the whole bag if you are serving several people.
