Super Bowl! Healthy Seven Layer Dip

Super bowl Sunday is often seen as the day that New Year’s resolution diets die. But this does not have to be the case! Sometimes the hardest thing about the football game parties can be the temptations of all of your favorite game-day classic snacks. But we have come up with a 7-layer dip recipe that will make you forget that it’s good for you!

You will need the following delicious ingredients:
  • 1 cup spinach, chopped to shredded
  • 3 medium ripe avocados, mashed (can add garlic salt to taste)
  • 1 ½ cups Fage nonfat Greek yogurt mixed with 1 teaspoon of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and ½ teaspoon of cumin (can adjust these amounts to your taste preference)
  • 1 (15oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained (we used Full Circle - our organic brand with a NuVal score of 82)
  • 3 medium diced tomatoes
  • 1 (3.8oz) can sliced black olives, rinsed and drained
  • ½ cup 2% shredded cheese
Chop spinach into strips and put aside to sprinkle on top later.

Chop tomatoes, put aside.

Remove avocados from peel, mash, and put aside.

Mix the spices into the yogurt in a separate bowl and put aside.

Open beans. Rinse and drain, put aside.

Layer ingredients in a 9x9 pan in the following order, starting on the bottom of the dish:
yogurt
black beans
avocado
tomatoes
olives
spinach
cheese

Serve with whole grain chips, or try it with vegetables to cut the calories even more!
